The cost and frequency of extreme weather events are on the rise. Between 2018 and 2022, there were 89 billion-dollar weather disasters in the U.S., more than the 86 recorded in all of the 1980s and 1990s, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
