Protect Your Residents. Secure Your Data.
Why Cybersecurity Matters for Affordable Housing Organizations Today.
October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month, but the HAI Group team emphasizes that prioritizing cybersecurity is essential year-round. Use the lessons and tips highlighted this month to strengthen your defenses all year long.
Multifamily affordable housing organizations are increasingly vulnerable, especially with the rise of hybrid and remote work. Cybercriminals are targeting housing providers more frequently, using sophisticated methods to infiltrate private systems and compromise confidential data—putting residents, employees, and entire organizations at risk.
The FBI's latest Internet Crime Report reveals an 18% year-over-year increase in ransomware incidents, with total reported losses skyrocketing 74%, from $34 million to nearly $60 million. Additionally, a global survey of 5,000 business leaders found that 59% were impacted by ransomware in the past year. Alarmingly, 32% of these incidents began with an unpatched vulnerability, underscoring the critical need for proactive cybersecurity measures.
